I am quite surprised that Leo Sayer's classic song of urban multi-instrumentalist alienation, "One Man Band", was written for the toughest man in rock, Roger Daltrey. See for yourself on this excellent video, uploaded by the equally excellent Paris1919:
PS: I apologise for Leo Sayer's lack of afro.

What always leaves me awestruck about Sayer, is his harsh, uncompromising style. Seemingly simple, but always full of contradictions, such as when he states that this song was written by him and his partner and then goes on say that he wrote the songs for Roger Daltrey. To add insult to injury, the song is called 'One man band'. If it were me, I'd have thrown the guitar down and walked off whilst telling him to sing it a-capella, like Bobby Mc-fucking-Ferrin.
I wasn't expecting this video to provoke such an explosove reaction. Still, that's the great thing about P!O!P!, always causing unexpected explosive reactions.
