Poptimism: The Game's Up

Unfortunately for all you 'poptimists' out there, it's now not cool to like popular, but 'uncool' music, because it's gone mainstream, according to this BBC article. What will happen now? Do the poptimists go back to being indie kids?

yay, good old alan, he's virtually a freaky trigger contributor, the amount of comments he's made on popular.

i'm not sure you've got the right end of the poptimist stick either there keith:

1. poptimism has always (FSVO "always") been pro all kinds of pop music whatever it's realtive "cool" value, it's just we don't feel guilty about it.

2. whatever made you think we'd stopped being indie kids ;)

I like the picture of "The acme of cool". He's wearing 'shades', so you can tell.

My problem with 'poptimism' is the idea that liking pop music is some kind of big deal. Look, we're playing Girls Aloud. See how unfettered we are! Are we not clever!

Steve, I guess I was having a bit of fun...

Trouble is, I think by your definition, it's nothing new, it's just what people who are not daft do. Reading ILX makes it look like nothing more than indie saddo-ism or something.

Tag, I agree...

Well, now I feel bad about not having twittered on Popular since the revamp. :(

What is 'popular'?

Keith, I think they must mean this:
